Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde recently opened up to her followers about a health crisis she faced, which led to a critical surgery. In a heartfelt post on her Instagram, the actress expressed her gratitude to God for life, good health, and recovery as she reflected on the terrifying experience. The actress took to social media on Thanksgiving Day to share her story, highlighting the gravity of the medical emergency she encountered.
Omotola began her post by recalling the sudden stomach pain that prompted her to seek immediate medical attention. “I had been getting my films ready and after the day’s edit, I proceeded for the Academy Voting Member’s viewing of Gladiator 11,” she explained. However, despite her busy schedule, Omotola struggled with severe back and chest pains that had been recurring throughout the week. “I had been rushed to the ER twice that week already for back-chest pains that would come intensely and leave the next day,” she added.
The actress went on to share the details of her visits to the hospital, where doctors were trying to diagnose the issue. “The doctors were checking for my now high blood pressure and intense acid reflux,” she revealed. During her second hospital visit, after receiving treatment and a series of blood tests, she was sent home, feeling better—only for the pain to return in full force the next day. “I threw up all night till there was nothing to throw up anymore,” she said, describing the agony she endured.
By the morning, the pain escalated, and Omotola was rushed to the emergency room for the third time. It was then that doctors conducted a CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI, revealing a life-threatening condition. “The doctor came in and said, ‘You have to go in immediately for surgery!'” she recalled, explaining that her gallbladder had become so dilated that the doctors were astonished she wasn’t in more pain. “It was so dilated, the doctors wondered how I was not in more pain,” she noted.
The diagnosis required urgent surgery to remove her gallbladder, a procedure that left Omotola deeply grateful for the medical team that handled her case. “So the fight for my life began,” she said. “Today, I am returning to give all the glory to God,” she concluded, thankful for the skilled doctors who saved her life and the support she received from loved ones.
In her Thanksgiving message, Omotola emphasized the importance of appreciating the simple gifts of life, such as health and the ability to live without suffering. “Not only the gift of life, but the gift of good health, the gift of a complete body, or a sane mind to even dream of a better day!” she wrote. Her words resonated deeply with her followers, many of whom expressed their gratitude and well-wishes for her recovery.
Omotola’s candid post highlighted the unpredictable nature of health challenges and the strength required to face them. By sharing her experience, she not only celebrated her recovery but also inspired others to value their health. “Happy Thanksgiving, friends. God is good,” she concluded, reminding her audience to give thanks for every moment of life, no matter how big or small.
