Music superstar Davido has praised his father, billionaire businessman Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, for his ambitious plans to build Nigeria’s largest power plant. The elder Adeleke made the announcement during his address at the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) General Conference Annual Council held on October 15, 2024. According to Adeleke, the new facility will be a significant step toward improving Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity, as he currently provides about 15% of the country’s electricity needs.

During his speech, Adeleke, a prominent entrepreneur with interests in various sectors, revealed that he had already made a substantial impact on Nigeria’s power supply. “I generate about 15% of Nigeria’s electricity requirements,” he told the audience. The power plant he is set to construct, which will be the largest in the country, is being developed in collaboration with several Chinese engineering firms. The project is expected to be completed by January 2025.

Davido, known for his global influence in the music industry, took to Instagram to express his admiration for his father’s vision. In a heartfelt post, he described Adedeji Adeleke as his “hero” and praised his contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector. “My hero, my father Dr. Adedeji Adeleke speaks on The Sabbath at the SDA General Conference Annual Council 2024 – October 15th,” Davido wrote, sharing a photo of his father during the event.

The new power plant is expected to provide much-needed electricity to a country struggling with chronic power shortages. Nigeria has long faced energy crises, with many areas experiencing frequent power outages and unreliable supply. Adeleke’s project, once completed, could ease some of these challenges and potentially transform the nation’s energy landscape.

In addition to his work in the energy sector, Adedeji Adeleke has built a reputation as a successful businessman with diverse investments. His latest venture aligns with the growing need for infrastructure improvements across Nigeria, especially in critical areas like energy and power generation. By working with international engineering firms, Adeleke is bringing global expertise to bear on this large-scale project.

Davido’s public acknowledgment of his father’s efforts comes at a time when many Nigerians are hopeful for progress in the country’s energy sector.
