President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a N108 billion allocation to support Nigerian states in addressing natural disasters, with each state receiving N3 billion. This initiative aims to aid states in managing humanitarian crises and environmental challenges.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, confirmed receiving N3 billion to tackle the severe flooding in his state’s capital, caused by the Alau Dam water channels’ failure. He emphasized the funds’ importance in mitigating the disaster’s impact on residents.
Vice President Kashim Shettima reiterated the President’s commitment to partnering with states to address these issues. He stated, “The President has shown his zeal, willingness, and commitment to partner with the states towards addressing these issues.”
Shettima highlighted the recent approval of N3 billion for each state to address challenges, ensuring all parts of the federation have a sense of belonging.
The Federal Government’s allocation demonstrates its dedication to mitigating the impact of humanitarian crises and environmental challenges on Nigerian citizens.
This support will enable states to better manage natural disasters and provide relief to affected communities.
