“I Feel Used and Exploited by Those Who Promised to Help Me” – Alex Elvasam

Alex Elvasam, the talented fish pie vendor who became an internet sensation due to his endearing voice, has expressed his disappointment over the failed promises of support he received after his viral video. In a candid interview, Alex shared his frustrations about the empty promises made by individuals who had offered financial assistance and opportunities, only to leave him without the help he was promised.

Following the viral success of his video, Alex was inundated with offers from people claiming to want to support his journey. Notably, a TikTok personality promised him N3 million, and popular content creator Nons Miraj offered him a N200,000 apartment rental. These gestures were seen as a sign of hope for Alex, who was struggling to make ends meet while pursuing his passion for cooking. However, Alex has revealed that none of these promises came to fruition.

In the interview, Alex candidly spoke about the emotional toll the situation has taken on him. “I feel used and exploited by those who promised to help me,” he said. The singer-turned-entrepreneur explained how, despite the initial wave of support, he now finds himself in a difficult position, struggling to make ends meet and provide for himself. His disappointment was clear as he reflected on the missed opportunities and unfulfilled commitments that have left him in a precarious situation.

The experience has also led Alex to reevaluate his current partnership with the brand Eko. The collaboration, which was meant to promote Alex’s culinary talents, has not been without its challenges. He revealed that he is uncomfortable with the comedic nature of the brand’s marketing campaign, feeling that it distracts from his true passion for cooking and catering. “I would rather focus on my passion for cooking, not the comedy aspect of the brand,” Alex explained, underscoring the tension he feels about his professional direction.
