The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has announced with deep sorrow the tragic passing of one of its sanitation workers, Mr. Bashiru Nuhu, who lost his life in a road accident involving a mini-bus and a LAWMA operational truck in the Ketu area. The incident has left the LAWMA community and the city at large grieving.
In response to media reports, LAWMA has clarified that at the time of the accident, the LAWMA truck was parked by the roadside with its amber warning lights on, in full compliance with standard safety protocols. The collision occurred when a mini-bus, traveling at high speed, lost control and crashed into the stationary truck.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. Nuhu,” said a LAWMA spokesperson. “His dedication and commitment to keeping our city clean will always be remembered.”
LAWMA has launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the accident, working alongside relevant authorities to ensure that all facts are thoroughly examined and justice is served.
