Naira Marley Urges Court to Investigate Mohbad’s Wife, Others

Popular musician Azeez Adeshina Fashola, known as Naira Marley, has called on the court to investigate Omowunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, along with approximately 14 others who were present at the singer’s residence 48 to 72 hours before his passing. This request was made during a virtual testimony before Ms. T.A. Shotobi at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Friday.

In a statement shared with *PUNCH Metro* on Sunday, Naira Marley’s legal representative, Olusola Okuwobi, disclosed that the musician urged the coroner to shift focus away from suspects highlighted by the police and social media and instead interrogate those who had close contact with the deceased in his final hours. “Naira Marley testified before the court virtually, giving his precise and succinct testimony,” Okuwobi stated.

During his testimony, Naira Marley asserted that he was not in the country at the time of Mohbad’s death. He also emphasized that there was no bad blood between him and the late singer prior to the tragic incident. “He further stated that he had no animosity towards Mohbad before his death,” the statement read. “He related the status of the contract that subsisted between his good self and the deceased.”

Okuwobi further revealed that Naira Marley accused those who were present with Mohbad before his death of attempting to evade accountability. He claimed that these individuals were sharing an old video to mislead the public and shift attention away from themselves.

According to the statement, Naira Marley also noted that the video in question was not relevant to the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s passing. He pointed out that the deceased had already apologized for the video and had been forgiven before parting ways with the record label.

The sudden death of Mohbad in September 2023 has sparked widespread controversy, with many speculating about the possible causes. Several individuals, including Naira Marley, were initially accused of being involved in his death, leading to intense public scrutiny and police investigations.
