Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recently discussed his decision to join President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing infrastructure within the Territory. Wike made these remarks during the flag-off ceremony for the 15.4-kilometer Pai-Gomani road project in the Kwali Area Council on Tuesday.
Wike asserted that the current government aims to ensure broad participation in the dividends of democracy. “The government of President Ahmed Tinubu will allow everybody to benefit, to participate, to have the dividends of democracy,” he stated, outlining his vision for inclusive governance under Tinubu’s leadership. This statement reflects Wike’s intention to foster a collaborative environment for development.
Highlighting his focus as Minister, Wike clarified that his role is not centered on “selling lands” in Abuja but rather on advancing infrastructure projects. He expressed a commitment to making sure that all residents, irrespective of their political affiliations, benefit from these developments. “Infrastructure development is my priority,” he declared, underscoring the need for unity in progress.
Wike also called for patience from Nigerians as the Tinubu administration grapples with economic challenges. “That is what I have told our people. Mr. President has promised you, give me time, be patient, I will get to all of you,” he reassured citizens, emphasizing the government’s dedication to addressing the needs of all Area Councils.
As Minister of the FCT, Wike has placed a strong emphasis on infrastructure development, which aligns closely with the Tinubu government’s broader agenda. He stressed the importance of the Pai-Gomani road project, stating, “Whether you are in PDP, whether you are in APC, whether you don’t even believe in any party, you must use this road.” This statement highlights his commitment to ensuring that infrastructure serves all citizens, regardless of political loyalty.
