Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, on his 60th birthday, praising him as a reliable, hardworking, supportive, and committed partner. Hamzat will officially turn 60 on Thursday.
In a statement, Sanwo-Olu described Hamzat as “a genius, brother, friend, and trusted partner in the Greater Lagos agenda.” He highlighted Hamzat’s numerous contributions to Lagos State and Nigeria, saying, “Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, whom I have known for over two decades, is a genius, an exemplary administrator, a seasoned technocrat, and a politician.”
The governor noted that the cordial relationship between him and his deputy has contributed to good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends to Lagos residents over the past five years. “On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Lagos State, as well as the Governance Advisory Council, leaders, and members of the All Progressives Congress, I celebrate my dear friend and brother on his 60th birthday.”
Hamzat’s impressive track record includes serving as Lagos State Commissioner for Science and Technology under Chief Bola Tinubu’s administration and Commissioner for Works during Babatunde Fashola’s tenure.
Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude for Hamzat’s dedication, stating, “The deputy governor’s diamond birthday is worth celebrating because of his immeasurable contributions to Lagos State and Nigeria, having passionately served in various private and public offices, locally and internationally, for over three decades.”
As Hamzat joins the league of sexagenarians, Sanwo-Olu prayed for his continued good health, enabling him to provide more services to humanity, Lagos State, and Nigeria.
