APC Chieftain, Joe Igbokwe Claims Tinubu’s Master Plan for 2027 Re-election

Joe Igbokwe

Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has praised President Bola Tinubu, calling him a “smart man” who has already laid the groundwork for his re-election bid in 2027. In a post on his official Facebook page on March 17, 2025, Igbokwe asserted that Tinubu has positioned loyalists within key political structures across the country to ensure his victory in the next presidential election.

Igbokwe further emphasized that Tinubu’s re-election strategy began well before he assumed office in May 2023. According to Igbokwe, the president has been meticulously preparing for 2027, ensuring his political influence stretches across various factions in the political landscape. He stated, “Before he even stepped into Aso Villa he had started planning for 2027,” signaling the depth and early nature of Tinubu’s political foresight.

In his post, Igbokwe claimed that Tinubu’s challengers in the 2027 election will be no match for the incumbent’s strategic planning. “The truth is that those who want to challenge PBAT in 2027 are not as smart as he is,” Igbokwe asserted. He further described the president’s preparations as comprehensive, pointing out that Tinubu had already “planted his men everywhere” to strengthen his hold over political and administrative structures nationwide.

The APC chieftain’s remarks come amid growing tension within opposition parties. Several figures in the opposition have accused the ruling party of destabilizing their ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections. Igbokwe’s claims about Tinubu’s foresight and planning have raised eyebrows, especially as political commentators note the growing influence of the ruling party.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a key figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been vocal about what he describes as orchestrated efforts by the ruling party to destabilize opposition parties. Atiku specifically pointed to ongoing leadership crises in both the PDP and the Labour Party (LP), suggesting that these divisions were deliberately fueled by the APC to suppress opposition forces ahead of the 2027 polls.

Atiku, along with other opposition leaders, has been critical of the ruling government’s alleged tactics to weaken rival political entities. They argue that the political crises within the PDP and LP have hindered their ability to mount an effective challenge to Tinubu’s leadership. The opposition parties have raised concerns over what they view as a concerted effort to undermine their political cohesion as they gear up for the next presidential race.
