Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has once again set a new benchmark in music history, adding to her legendary Grammy collection and solidifying her status as one of the most accomplished artists of all time. The 2025 Grammy Awards, which are being held at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, have seen the superstar continue her reign in the music world.
This year, Beyoncé got off to a strong start by taking home the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Miley Cyrus on “II Most Wanted.” The award marks another achievement in her already illustrious career.
With a total of 11 nominations this year, Beyoncé became the leading nominee for the Grammys, including a coveted nod for Album of the Year for her widely praised eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter.
The groundbreaking nature of her nominations did not stop there. For the first time, Beyoncé was also up for awards in the Country & American Roots field, further expanding her musical influence across multiple genres.
Seven different songs from Cowboy Carter were nominated across four different categories, demonstrating the album’s widespread appeal and Beyoncé’s versatile talent. Her success in multiple genres, including country music, has been a major talking point.
Beyoncé’s victory for “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus was historic. She became the first Black woman to win a Grammy for a country music song since the Pointer Sisters won a similar award in 1975.
“This is a monumental moment, not just for me, but for Black women in country music,” Beyoncé said in her acceptance speech. “We have come so far, and I am so proud to be a part of this evolution.”
Notably, no Black female solo artist has ever won a Grammy for a country song before. In 2020, Mickey Guyton made history as the first Black woman to receive a nomination in a country music category for her song “Black Like Me.”
Beyoncé’s country music milestone is especially poignant in light of her recent struggles with the Country Music Association (CMA). Despite the release of her groundbreaking *Cowboy Carter* album, she was snubbed with zero nominations for the 2024 CMA Awards. However, she still emerged as the leading nominee for the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, where she received 12 nods but left empty-handed.
“This win means so much to me, especially considering the journey we’ve had to get here,” Beyoncé continued. “I’ve always believed in the power of music to unite us across genres and backgrounds.”
The 2025 Grammy win is particularly sweet for Beyoncé, who also took home her first-ever country music accolades at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. In December, she was named Top Country Female Artist, a significant recognition for her foray into the country music scene.
