The Lagos Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Ishola, has directed the immediate deployment of personnel and resources to strategic locations across the state ahead of the scheduled EndBadGovernance protest on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
CP Ishola met with protest organizers, including Dabiradura Adeyinka, Alex Omotehnse, and others, to ensure a safe and secure environment before, during, and after the protest. The meeting, held at the Ikeja Police Headquarters, aimed to promote peaceful coexistence.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, CP Ishola assured the organizers that arrangements have been made with other security agencies to provide maximum security during the protest. The Police Commissioner urged protesters to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
In response, the protest organizers assured that they and their followers would maintain peace and adhere to the law during the protests.
To maintain order, CP Ishola has ordered the optimal deployment of human and operational resources across strategic locations. He charged deployed officers to be professional, civil, but firm.
