Nigerian singer, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has made a surprising revelation about his time at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) record label. In an interview on “Curiosity Made Me Ask” with Bae U the Barbie, Skales claimed to have co-written several hit songs for colleague Wizkid.
“Back in EME, we were a team, so we used to write songs for each other,” Skales explained. “I wrote songs for Wizkid. He also wrote songs for me, too. He wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me, and I wrote his song ‘Wiz Party.'” Skales emphasized the collaborative nature of EME, stating, “As I said, EME was a collective, so we did teamwork.”
Skales specifically mentioned co-writing the bonus track “Wiz Party” on Wizkid’s debut album, “Super Star.” This revelation sheds new light on the creative process behind Wizkid’s early success.
Wizkid and Skales were among the first artists signed to EME, owned by Banky W, in the early 2010s. However, they both parted ways with the label due to disagreements with Banky W. In a previous interview, Banky W revealed that Wizkid owed EME three albums based on his initial contract.
