Nigerian activist and social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), has launched an initiative aimed at connecting Nigerian entrepreneurs with Chinese manufacturers. This move comes after VDM’s extended stay in China, where he identified promising business opportunities that could benefit both parties, particularly in light of economic challenges facing Chinese manufacturers.
During his time in China, VDM came across manufacturers struggling to sell their products due to surplus inventory and difficult economic conditions. “A lot of Chinese manufacturers have approached me with some deals which will make me a millionaire here in China. However, I have declined all and instead I will throw it to everyone,” VDM shared in a video. He went on to explain that these manufacturers were finding it difficult to move their goods, and he saw this as an opportunity to help not just himself, but other Nigerians as well.
Rather than keeping these lucrative deals to himself, VDM decided to open up the opportunity to his fellow Nigerians. In his announcement, he emphasized that he would not take advantage of the situation for personal gain but instead aimed to ensure that the deals would benefit a broader group. “They told me they have a lot of goods on the ground but because of their present economy selling those goods out has been difficult and this is where there is the opportunity for everyone,” he added, highlighting the potential for local entrepreneurs to thrive.
VDM is planning a return to Nigeria, where he intends to set up offices dedicated to facilitating secure and transparent partnerships between Nigerian entrepreneurs and Chinese suppliers. These offices will serve as intermediaries, ensuring smooth transactions and mitigating the risks often associated with international trade, especially with new suppliers.
One of VDM’s key goals is to prevent fraud in the process. He is keen on ensuring that the deals between Nigerian entrepreneurs and Chinese manufacturers remain safe and above board. To that end, he is committed to putting in place strict measures to prevent fraudulent activities, making sure that all imported products meet the necessary quality standards before reaching Nigerian consumers.
In his video, VDM expressed a deep sense of responsibility to support his fellow Nigerians. “When I come back to Nigeria, we will all work together to get ourselves out of that hardship,” he said, indicating his strong commitment to helping Nigerians overcome economic challenges.
