Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, recently expressed his gratitude to his former record label boss, Bankole Wellington, also known as Bank W, for sponsoring his university education. The singer, best known for his hit song “Shake Body,” took to his social media platform X on Thursday to share the news after receiving his long-awaited Bachelor of Science in Business Administration certificate.
Skales, who graduated from Lead City University several years ago, revealed that it was only recently that he received the official certificate. In his post, the singer shared a copy of his degree and reflected on the journey that led him to earn the qualification. He wrote, “Aye my BSc showed up after many years of graduation!” alongside an image of the certificate.
The singer also took the opportunity to dedicate his academic achievement to his late mother, who he said had been a significant influence in his life. “This is for my mother,” Skales shared in his heartfelt message. The post garnered praise from fans and fellow artists, who congratulated him on this personal milestone.
In his post, Skales further thanked Banky W, acknowledging the crucial role his former label boss played in his education. “Thank you to @BankyW for sponsoring the boy through school,” he wrote. Skales’ appreciation highlighted Banky W’s support not only in his musical career but also in ensuring he had the opportunity to pursue higher education while navigating the entertainment industry.
Skales had signed a record deal with Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E.) in 2009. The collaboration between the two helped Skales rise to prominence in the Nigerian music scene. However, the singer parted ways with the label in 2014 when his contract expired, continuing to carve his own path in the music industry.
