The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, stated on Tuesday that all of his administration’s work in Abuja is part of President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” Agenda. According to Wike, the ongoing projects and developments in the nation’s capital are aimed at fulfilling Tinubu’s promise to improve the lives of Nigerians through good governance and infrastructural growth.
Wike made the remarks during an inspection of the ongoing construction of the five-kilometre Saburi–Dei Dei road in Abuja. He emphasized that the development of key infrastructure, such as the Saburi–Dei Dei road, is directly aligned with the broader goals of the Tinubu-led administration. The project, once completed, is expected to ease transportation and improve access to important areas within the FCT.
Speaking to journalists at the site, Wike explained that the work being done in the FCT reflects the government’s commitment to meeting the needs of the people. “Good governance is inclusive of the provision of basic infrastructure, being transparent and accountable, providing security, and providing quality health and education to the people,” Wike said, underscoring the holistic approach the administration is taking toward governance.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of tangible improvements in the daily lives of citizens as part of the government’s agenda. He noted that the Tinubu administration is focused on creating lasting change in various sectors, with infrastructure being a key component. “All the things that we have been doing in FCT are part of good governance,” Wike added, framing the projects as essential to the nation’s broader development goals.
Wike also took the opportunity to express his satisfaction with the positive reception the ongoing projects have received from residents of Abuja. He revealed that the government’s efforts to transform the FCT have been well-received, particularly by those who directly benefit from the new infrastructure. “We are happy that the people appreciate what we are doing. This is very important to us that the people are happy,” the Minister stated, emphasizing that public approval is a key indicator of the government’s success.
The Saburi–Dei Dei road project, which was flagged off earlier this year, is one of several key infrastructural upgrades aimed at improving Abuja’s road network. The development is expected to not only enhance transportation but also contribute to the economic growth of the area by connecting important commercial hubs within the city.
Wike’s comments reflect the ongoing efforts by the current administration to fulfill its campaign promises, which include improving the nation’s infrastructure, ensuring security, and providing basic services to citizens. The construction of roads, housing, and public utilities are all part of the government’s vision to create a more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.
As the FCT Minister continues his inspection of various projects across Abuja, the administration’s focus on infrastructure development is expected to be a central theme in the coming months. With the Saburi–Dei Dei road project set to be completed in the near future, Wike’s optimism about the positive impact of these projects on the lives of Nigerians is shared by many who hope the improvements will bring lasting change to the FCT and beyond.
