Nigerian gospel singer Dare Melody recently opened up about the profound loss of his wife, Adedoyin, who passed away in October at the age of 47. In an emotional video shared on his social media platforms, Melody spoke candidly about the challenges the couple faced during their marriage, particularly the mistreatment Adedoyin endured from his own family. Despite these hardships, he said that his wife remained steadfast in her support, offering him unwavering love and encouragement during the toughest moments of his career.
In the heartfelt video, Dare Melody recalled how, despite the difficult family dynamics, he always reassured his wife to stay at peace. “My family frustrated Adedoyin, I will hold her and say, ‘Adedoyin, I am the one you married, and whenever you see me, put your mind at rest,’” he shared. Melody emphasized that his wife’s patience and understanding were key to their relationship’s longevity, especially when faced with adversity.
The singer also expressed immense gratitude for Adedoyin’s support during a particularly dark period in his career when he was blacklisted by a music promoter. For almost four years, his songs were banned from the airwaves, leaving him with few opportunities to advance in the industry. Melody recalled the hardship with deep emotion, saying, “I remember one day when one promoter who took me out and acted like a human being by saying none of my songs should be played on the radio or printed for almost four years. I could not do anything, but my late wife stood by me.”
During those trying years, while others celebrated the New Year, Melody and his wife were reduced to a humble meal of biscuits with their one-year-old daughter. Reflecting on that time, he said, “When people celebrated the New Year, I ate biscuits with her and our one-year-old daughter. I told the Lord, ‘If truly you are the one who called me, let people know you did.’”
In the video, Dare Melody also shared a turning point in his career, which came in 2010 with the release of his album *Goodness and Mercy*. “God told me I would release a record in 2010, which became ‘Goodness and Mercy’. That record revived my career, and people started to recognize me,” he explained. The success of the album marked a turning point, allowing Melody to regain his footing in the gospel music scene.
To honor his wife’s loyalty, Dare Melody revealed that he had built a house for Adedoyin. This gesture was meant to show his deep appreciation for the sacrifices she made throughout their marriage. “A friend called me and said, ‘This woman stood by you, let’s build a house for her,’ and I said, ‘Everything I have is for her,’” he remarked, underscoring the depth of his gratitude and love for his late wife.
