Renowned Nigerian actor Segun Arinze has addressed the ongoing allegations of homosexuality within the Nigerian movie industry, offering a candid response in an interview with Arise TV, shared on YouTube Wednesday. The 59-year-old actor made it clear that he does not engage in homosexual activities, and he shared his personal perspective on the matter.
During the interview, Arinze emphasized his stance on maintaining personal boundaries and living a simple life focused on his business and professionalism. “I do not bend over, so I cannot react to it. Well, if they do bend over, they should keep bending. That is their problem,” he stated, referencing the popular slang used to describe homosexual acts. He went on to add that individuals involved in such activities have the right to do so, as they are adults.
“Adults and they have a right to do whatever they want to do. It is none of my business,” Arinze remarked, further distancing himself from the issue. His comments highlighted his desire to avoid involvement in discussions about personal matters that do not concern him.
The actor also made it clear that he does not want to focus on these types of issues. “I am not going to concern myself with that. I do not like those lash backs, I like living my life straightforward, doing my business and being a professional that I am,” Arinze explained. This statement reinforced his preference for keeping his attention on his professional career rather than engaging in sensational topics.
Segun Arinze, born Segun Aina, began his career as a singer, though his debut album, Dream, did not achieve significant commercial success. It was in acting, however, that he found greater recognition and fame in the entertainment industry.
Arinze became widely known for his role in the 1996 movie Domitilla, which significantly boosted his career. Since then, he has appeared in over 100 films, solidifying his reputation as one of the most prominent figures in Nollywood.
