Nigerian car dealer IVD Autos has alleged that music star Davido still owes him a significant sum of N5.5 million for a car purchased for Davido’s aide, Isreal DMW. According to IVD, the total cost of the vehicle, a 2009 Toyota Venza, was N6.5 million, with Davido initially paying only N1 million, leaving an outstanding balance of N5.5 million.
The allegations first came to light when IVD’s girlfriend, relationship expert Blessing CEO, accused Davido in 2023 of failing to settle the debt. However, at the time, IVD Motors quickly denied the claims, asserting that Davido had cleared the payment. They also apologized to Blessing for not providing her with an update on the matter.
Despite the previous denial, IVD has now reversed his earlier statement, claiming that the debt remains unpaid. In a viral audio clip that has been circulating online, IVD reiterated that the N5.5 million balance is still outstanding. “Every time I reached out for payment, Davido usually asks me to resend my account details, but the money has never been transferred to me,” he said in the audio, expressing frustration over the repeated promises without action.
In the audio, IVD explained that he had made several attempts to contact Davido for payment, but each time, the music star had delayed or asked for further account details. “I have been asking for the money for a while now, and each time, it’s the same response. I send the account, but the payment never comes,” he added, further emphasizing his disappointment over the unresolved matter.
This new development has caught many by surprise, considering the previous public denial of the debt. IVD’s reversal of his earlier statement has reignited the discussion surrounding the financial dealings between the car dealer and the popular artist, raising questions about the transparency of their transactions.
