Atiku’s Aide: Tinubu’s Broken Shackle Symbol Now Represents Oppression

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Shaibu, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s campaign symbol, the broken shackle, stating it has brought misfortune and oppression to Nigerians.

Shaibu drew parallels between the swastika’s transformation from a symbol of good fortune to one of oppression and Tinubu’s broken shackle.

“The swastika, which ordinarily should represent hope, lost its credence due to its association with Hitler’s Nazi regime. Similarly, Tinubu’s broken shackle has morphed into a symbol of oppression,” Shaibu said.

He cited Tinubu’s “Emilokan” remarks in Ogun State as a turning point, where the President’s claim to power was seen as selfish and arrogant.

“President Tinubu has made the broken shackle a symbol of oppression and political rascality,” Shaibu stated, adding that the Emilokan mantra now represents exploitation and personal enrichment.

Shaibu debunked the notion that Tinubu’s governance drove Lagos’ economic growth, instead accusing him of building personal wealth by exploiting Lagosians.

“The disillusionment with the Emilokan symbol has become widespread, and the caps once proudly displayed are now gathering dust,” Shaibu noted.

He also dismissed comparisons between Tinubu and the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, calling it a “political impersonation fraud of grand proportions.”

“Everyone now knows that Tinubu is not Awolowo,” Shaibu emphasized.

Shaibu’s criticism highlights growing discontent with President Tinubu’s administration and the perceived disconnect between his campaign promises and reality.
