That death is inevitable and has ruled over mankind is stating the obvious. What rites should mark the passing of our loved ones? How do we honour God when death visits? How shall we prepare for death? These are rhetorical questions running through the mind of Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, the founder of Trinity House who decided to mourn the passage of his beautiful wife, Ibidun, in silence while performing the funeral service of Chief Rasaq Okoya’s grandson.
It is no longer news that Chief Rasaq Okoya’s daughter, Biola Okoya lost her son, Ayodeji Akinwande Modupe-Johnson. But what surprised many was that, the news of Pastor Ighodalo’s wife, came while he was leading the funeral service for Ayodeji who died at the age of 24, yet he was calm all through.
Giving meaning to his mien, Pastor Ighodalo said; “Life is a deep mystery…I mean, if they had told us last week Sunday that we would be here celebrating Ayodeji’s life, I would’ve said it’s not possible. He was ill, no doubt; but we believed God that he would get well, but here we are right now and there he is” he said.
“And of course a lot of you know that I shouldn’t really be here, but that’s how life is. At 2 o’clock I got a call that shattered my life, but life must go on.”
Ibidun, who was planning to celebrate her 40th birthday in a low-key, died of cardiac arrest, according to the family.
This life is vanity
