Oyo State Bans Teachers’ Meetings During School Hours

The Oyo State government has prohibited teachers’ meetings during school hours, effective immediately. Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, announced this directive while monitoring school resumption in Ibadan.

“The era of holding meetings during school hours is over,” Adeniran warned. “Any primary school head teacher who indulges in such acts will be severely dealt with.” He emphasized the need for strict adherence to the unified school timetable.

Adeniran appealed to education unions and associations to support this policy, ensuring a distraction-free learning environment. “We must prioritize our students’ education,” he stressed.

In a separate initiative, Adeniran highlighted SUBEB’s commitment to leveraging technology. During a capacity-building session on the BESDA Attendance Monitoring Information System, he encouraged participants to master the BAMIS APP.

“We’re empowering educators with digital tools to enhance teaching and learning,” Adeniran explained. He commended the Universal Basic Education Commission for developing the BAMIS APP to track attendance, punctuality, and learning outcomes.
