Seun Kuti Questions Footballers’ Salaries

Afrobeats artist Seun Kuti has ignited a heated debate by questioning the l salaries of footballers compared to essential workers. Kuti pinpointedted the disparity in earnings, pointing out that footballers’ high salaries are unjustified, especially when contrasted with the modest pay of nurses, doctors, and other critical professionals.

“Society functioned without footballers during the COVID-19 pandemic, but essential workers risked their lives to keep everyone safe,” Kuti noted. He emphasized the injustice, saying, “Collecting millions to chase ball around field, footballers are making millions weekly. Why should footballers be paid better than nurses and doctors? It’s not fair.”

Kuti’s comments come on the heels of Manchester City midfielder Rodri’s warning of a possible strike among footballers due to the crowded schedule. Rodri stated that players across Europe believe a strike is necessary if changes aren’t made. This development has further fueled the debate on footballers’ salaries and their impact on the sport and society.
