Prominent Nigerian activist Verydarkman has dropped a new audio recording that seemingly captures a conversation where social media personality Bobrisky discusses efforts to bribe officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to have his money laundering charges dropped.
The recording, which was shared by Verydarkman on Instagram, is purportedly from May 16, 2024, when Bobrisky was reportedly in detention. This comes shortly after the activist’s earlier release on the same topic, which sparked widespread online interest.
In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly admits to having his phone in custody and requests the conversation remain private. He reportedly reveals that the EFCC was investigating his financial dealings, including his bank accounts, and claims that he had to pay a sum of money to get the charges dropped. “I had to pay them to drop the charges,” Bobrisky is heard saying, hinting at a possible bribe to resolve his legal troubles.
Verydarkman further noted that Bobrisky’s conversation also mentioned that his bank account had been frozen, which contradicts statements made by the EFCC in a recent House of Representatives session, where the agency denied taking such action against him. This discrepancy adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing case.
The release of this recording has intensified public scrutiny on Bobrisky’s legal situation, which is already under intense media attention.
