Bobrisky Claims $100,000 Earnings from Social Media Influencing

Popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, has allegedly revealed that he earns as much as $100,000 for social media influencing. This comes amidst ongoing legal troubles and accusations of fraud that have long surrounded his public persona. In a newly surfaced voice recording, Bobrisky purportedly defended the legitimacy of his wealth, insisting that his financial success comes from genuine sources, including his work as a social media influencer.

The claim was made during a call on May 16, 2024, which was shared on social media by popular influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). The video, posted on Monday, October 7, 2024, captured Bobrisky discussing the details of his earnings with an unnamed male contact. In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly said, “All the money I have is genuine and the sources are like most of my influencing. Like that day I called you, that one woman wanted to pay me £10,000, you know I told you that it’s for influencing.”

The crossdresser, who has long been the subject of public scrutiny for his lavish lifestyle and controversial online persona, went on to explain how much he charges for his services. “So, people don’t know how I charge a lot of money for influencing but I made them understand I charge as far as $100,000 to influence,” Bobrisky claimed. This is a significant statement, given the ongoing criticisms surrounding his wealth and the perception that he may be involved in illicit activities, such as money laundering.

Bobrisky’s financial transparency comes in the wake of his conviction for mutilating the naira, for which he was sentenced to six months in prison in April 2024. Despite this, the crossdresser appears confident about his financial future, reinforcing the idea that he has made his fortune through legitimate means. “All the money I have is genuine,” he reiterated in the recording, distancing himself from the ongoing rumors of fraud that have plagued his public image.

In a revealing portion of the call, Bobrisky also commented on his time in custody, suggesting that he had access to his mobile phone while incarcerated. The male contact had initially asked if Bobrisky was out of prison, to which he responded, “I’m not out, but I’m around.” He then explained how he had avoided interacting with the public. “People have been sending me so many messages, but I’ve not been responding because I don’t want anybody to know that I have my phone. I only want to talk to somebody that I know I can trust,” Bobrisky confessed.

The mention of his continued access to a phone while in jail may raise eyebrows, as it suggests that his incarceration was not as restrictive as typically expected. This revelation has sparked further conversation online, with many questioning the conditions of his imprisonment and how he was able to maintain communication with the outside world during this period.

The audio leak comes shortly after Bobrisky had also claimed that EFCC officials had extorted him for N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against him. Bobrisky alleged that his godfather played a pivotal role in securing a more favorable arrangement for him, including facilitating his placement in an apartment close to the prison rather than being held behind bars.

“Let the world think that, but you will never know,” he had said previously, emphasizing his godfather’s role in keeping him out of prison despite being convicted. These claims continue to fuel controversy surrounding the conditions of his sentencing and the ongoing investigation into his wealth.

Despite the legal battles and public criticism, Bobrisky has remained an influential figure on social media, where he continues to promote his brand and maintain a lavish lifestyle. His alleged ability to command such high fees for his online influence highlights his continued dominance in the social media space, even in the face of legal adversity.

As the conversation about Bobrisky’s wealth and legal troubles continues to evolve, the public remains divided on the legitimacy of his claims. Whether or not his earnings are indeed the result of his social media influence or questionable business dealings remains to be seen, but the ongoing revelations only add more layers to the complex narrative surrounding the crossdresser’s controversial public life.
