Nigerian Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has spoken out about his disappointment after not receiving an invitation to singer Davido’s highly anticipated wedding, despite their past friendship.
During an appearance on the podcast Curiosity Made Me Ask with Bae U Barbie, Kuti opened up about how the snub affected him deeply, revealing that the exclusion left him struggling to sleep for an entire week. “Davido would come to the African Shrine with 100 guys and drink without paying, but when it was time for his wedding, I didn’t get an invite,” Kuti shared, highlighting the personal nature of the slight.
Kuti went on to explain that he and Davido had a close history, with the singer frequently visiting the African Shrine, the iconic venue owned by the Kuti family. During these visits, Davido would often be accompanied by a large entourage and would enjoy complimentary drinks, a gesture that Kuti said was a demonstration of their friendship.
