Nollywood actress Toyin Afolayan, popularly known as Lola Idije, has finally weighed in on the swirling rumors regarding her relationship with her goddaughter, fellow actress Biodun Okeowo, also known as Omoborty. The speculation arose following Omoborty’s extravagant wedding a few months ago, which had garnered significant attention on social media for its romantic flair and stunning visuals.
The joyous occasion quickly spiraled into controversy, with claims emerging that Omoborty’s husband had previously been romantically involved with Lola Idije’s daughter. This led to allegations that Okeowo had taken him from her. Despite Omoborty’s attempts to quash these rumors during an Instagram Live session, the speculation continued to circulate, prompting Lola Idije to take action.
On October 14, Lola Idije took to Instagram to address the matter directly, seeking to clarify the situation and dispel any lingering doubts. Her decisive statement aimed to set the record straight about her interactions with Omoborty’s husband and the nature of their relationships.
In her post, she recounted the only interaction she had with Omoborty’s husband, which was a brief phone call in which he was introduced to her. “The first time I ever spoke to Omoborty’s husband was when she introduced him to me on a phone call,” she stated. “I did not know him before that; none of my daughters know him personally.”
Lola Idije further emphasized that the accusations of Omoborty stealing a romantic partner from her family were unfounded. “Biodun, aka Omoborty, did not snatch my daughter’s boyfriend,” she asserted. “I attended the wedding; there is no way she would do that, and I still would attend the wedding.”
