“The President Feels Their Pain, He Is Working Hard” – Bayo Onanuga

In a recent statement, Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has firmly rejected claims that the President is indifferent to the struggles faced by Nigerians. This response comes amid a wave of criticism circulating on social media, where many have expressed frustration over the current state of the nation’s economy.

Onanuga appeared on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics to clarify Tinubu’s stance on the pressing issues affecting the populace. He stressed that the President is not only aware of these challenges but is also dedicated to making improvements in the lives of everyday Nigerians. “The President is aware that the citizens are going through some difficulties,” Onanuga affirmed, emphasizing Tinubu’s commitment to addressing these concerns.

Addressing a recent social media phenomenon where Tinubu has been nicknamed “T-pain,” Onanuga described the label as “mischievous.” He indicated that the President is largely disconnected from social media discussions, stating, “The President does not read what is on social media.” This disconnect, according to Onanuga, is why Tinubu remains unaware of the derogatory nickname attributed to him.

Onanuga further dismissed the social media commentary, saying, “Some people have also responded and called the President a different name. So, as far as I am concerned, it is a non-issue.” He urged the public to focus on the substantive efforts being made by the administration rather than engaging in name-calling.

He reiterated that the President’s intentions are not to exacerbate the current conditions but rather to “repair the economy.” Onanuga pointed out that despite challenges such as rampant inflation, the government is witnessing economic growth and increased revenues. “We are experiencing economic growth, despite inflation,” he remarked, indicating a positive outlook for the country’s financial future.

The spokesperson also highlighted Tinubu’s genuine empathy for the struggles of Nigerians, noting, “The President has never shied away from telling Nigerians that he feels their pain and he is working very hard to make sure that he gives them some relief.” This statement was intended to reassure citizens that their concerns are being acknowledged and addressed.
