Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as fuel, now available for purchase at N970 per litre. This price cut was confirmed in a recent flyer shared by the refinery on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that customers can now buy a minimum of two million litres of petrol at the new rate.
The flyer, which was posted on Dangote Refinery’s social media page, read: “High-quality PMS (Petrol) for your vehicles and engine and also good for the environment. Buy a minimum of two million litres @N970 per litre.” The announcement has caught the attention of both fuel marketers and the general public, as it offers a significant discount on the current price of petrol.
This new pricing comes amid an earlier statement by Anthony Chiejina, the spokesperson for Dangote Group, who revealed that the refinery had decided to lower the price of PMS. According to Chiejina, the price of fuel was slashed by N20 per litre, dropping from N990 to N970. “Dangote Petroleum Refinery has affected a reduction in the prevailing price of its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N990/litre to N970/litre for the marketers,” he confirmed.
The price reduction is expected to have a wide-ranging impact on the fuel market, especially for marketers and large-scale buyers.
