“I Don’t Count Weed as a Hard Drug” – Davido Defends Cannabis Use

Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, known as Davido, recently addressed the controversy surrounding his stance on cannabis use during an appearance on *The Morning Hustle* podcast. The singer revealed that he does not consider cannabis, commonly called weed, to be a “hard drug,” despite his ongoing support for combating drug abuse.

During the interview, Davido discussed his foundation’s upcoming donation to orphanages and efforts to fight drug addiction. However, his remarks on cannabis sparked criticism from some listeners. In response, Davido made it clear that his use of weed was not a contradiction to his philanthropic efforts. “I don’t count weed as a hard drug,” he stated, defending his position.

The singer acknowledged that some people have criticized him for supporting the fight against drug abuse while continuing to smoke weed. Despite these accusations, Davido remained firm in his belief that weed should not be lumped in with more dangerous substances. “Some people are saying I smoke weed but I don’t count weed as a drug,” he added, emphasizing that his stance was consistent with his personal views on cannabis.
