 “I was a studio rat” – Chatta Reveals the Struggles Behind His Success

In a recent interview, Chatta, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, shared the untold story of his journey to success, revealing the hardships he endured before achieving fame. Known for his work as an actor and composer, Chatta opened up about his early years, describing his path as a series of sacrifices, long hours, and perseverance.

 

“I was a studio rat,” Chatta recalled, describing his early days working tirelessly behind the scenes. Before he became a household name, Chatta spent countless hours in studios, creating promotional jingles and composing soundtracks for films. His role in the music industry was essential, yet largely unseen by the public. Chatta emphasized that he had to prove himself over and over again, stating, “I gave myself responsibility because I discovered it would make me stronger.”

 

Despite his determination, the road to success was not without its challenges. Chatta admitted to facing financial struggles during his early career. At one point, he told his mother that he was “comfortable” and no longer needed foodstuffs sent from home. However, he quickly confessed, “But I wasn’t comfortable.” To make ends meet, he resorted to taking on multiple jobs, including working as a bus conductor. “I would work for about a week or two as a bus conductor and I would get somebody,” he shared.

Chatta’s breakthrough came when he began writing and composing soundtracks for movies. He worked on over 400 films, creating music that would define many of the era’s greatest productions. Additionally, Chatta composed promotional jingles for more than 400 firms, marking his versatility in the entertainment industry. Though his work was crucial to the success of these films, Chatta was still not widely recognized as an actor at the time.

 

Despite this, his contributions to the entertainment industry grew. Chatta owned studios in Ikeja and other locations, where he would spend hours writing songs, singing, and performing. He further explained, “At a point, I was a studio rat,” as he worked tirelessly to perfect his craft and build a reputation. It was this dedication that slowly but surely set him apart in the competitive world of film and music production.

 

In reflecting on his journey, Chatta offered a powerful insight into the mindset that propelled him forward. “I gave myself responsibility because I discovered it would make me stronger,” he said, emphasizing how taking responsibility for his future helped him rise above the difficulties he faced. This determination would eventually lead to his success in both the film and music industries.
