“I Never Thought I Would Get to This Moment, but GOD Knew” – Dayo Amusa Celebrates One Month of Motherhood After Overcoming Personal Struggles

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has shared the emotional and challenging journey she faced on her path to motherhood, marking a significant milestone as her child, Oluwafirewamiri, turned one month old on December 18, 2024. In an emotional Instagram post published on December 31, just before the new year, Amusa opened up about her difficult experiences, which included multiple miscarriages, medical setbacks, and emotional turmoil. Her words serve as a beacon of hope to others battling similar struggles.

Amusa, who welcomed her baby in the United States on November 18, 2024, recounted the multiple hurdles she overcame before reaching this joyous moment. “I never thought I would get to this moment but GOD knew,” she wrote in one of the lengthy Instagram posts. The actress expressed how she had always dreamed of becoming a mother, yet the road to fulfilling that dream was anything but easy.

In 2015, Amusa was diagnosed with uterine myomatosis, a condition that involves the growth of fibroids in the uterus. The diagnosis, along with her three previous miscarriages, left her facing severe complications and intense monthly pain. “Some doctors recommended removing my womb due to the complications and discomfort I experience every month during my menstrual cycle,” she revealed. But Amusa refused to accept the grim prognosis, choosing instead to fight for the chance to one day become a mother.

Amusa turned to various treatments, including medications, injections, and surgeries to stop the growth of the fibroids. One pivotal moment in her medical journey came when her uncle’s wife encouraged her to seek treatment in the United Kingdom. In February 2015, Amusa underwent a delicate surgery to remove the tumors via a TCRE laparoscopy procedure, which she described as a challenging but necessary step in her path to recovery.

Although the surgery was a success, Amusa’s struggles did not end there. In 2016, she and her then-partner decided to try for a child, but they were devastated to learn that one of her fallopian tubes was damaged, making it nearly impossible for her to conceive naturally. “It would be almost impossible to get pregnant naturally,” she shared. As if that wasn’t enough, Amusa later found out that her partner had been involved with another woman during their relationship, resulting in the birth of a child.

The emotional toll from the breakdown of her relationship was immense. Amusa recalled how these experiences left her feeling frustrated and heartbroken. “After so many ups and downs, back and forth, na so the whole thing ended,” she said. “Story for another day,” she added, hinting at the complexity of that chapter in her life.

As time went on, Amusa continued her pursuit of motherhood with her next partner, but their attempts also ended in heartbreak. In January 2019, the couple decided to try IVF, but the result was another failed attempt. Amusa’s then-partner, who was over 40 years old, became increasingly impatient with the slow progress. In a moment of desperation, he proposed a painful and heartbreaking suggestion: that Amusa allow him to have a child with another woman while waiting for her to conceive. When she could not accept that offer, the relationship ended.

The emotional devastation from the failed relationship, combined with the fertility struggles, sent Amusa into a deep emotional crisis. “I became frustrated and very sad. I withdrew and isolated myself,” she admitted. She lost interest in everything that once brought her joy, including her career. The actress explained that she was battling depression for several years, and her work in Nollywood suffered as a result.

Amusa found solace and support in her mother, who became her rock during these dark times. Her mother frequently suggested that Amusa relocate to either the United States or the United Kingdom to escape her troubled environment. “She would advise I have a change of environment and breathe new soil,” Amusa recalled. The situation was dire, as she was financially unstable and struggling to regain her focus on life. Her mother’s encouragement led to a pivotal decision: in 2021, Amusa finally agreed to leave Nigeria and start a new chapter in the United States.

It was in the U.S. that Amusa’s life began to take a turn for the better. “That was when the story changed,” she remarked. The decision to relocate proved to be a turning point, and just a few years later, Amusa celebrated the birth of her child, Oluwafirewamiri. She credits her resilience and the support she received from her mother and close friends for helping her get through the darkest times.

Reflecting on her journey, Amusa expressed deep gratitude to God and all those who supported her along the way. “I’m so grateful to God for his blessings, and to everyone who believed in me and supported me through the toughest times,” she said. “It was a long, painful journey, but here we are, and I couldn’t be happier.”

Amusa’s story of perseverance and faith has resonated with many of her followers, especially those who are facing similar fertility struggles. Her Instagram posts have become a source of inspiration, with the actress offering words of encouragement to others in the same boat. “Having a child may not be easy for everyone, but it is not the end of the world,” she wrote. “Resilience, faith, and hope are what keep us going.”

As she celebrates one month of motherhood, Amusa’s message is clear: despite the pain, setbacks, and heartbreak, miracles are possible. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of support systems, and the undeniable strength of the human spirit.

Amusa’s experience also highlights the need for increased awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by women dealing with infertility and other reproductive health issues. The actress’s openness about her struggles has sparked important conversations about the emotional and physical toll of such experiences, and many have commended her bravery in sharing her story.

In her post, Amusa concluded with a note of gratitude and optimism for the future. “To every woman who is struggling, hold on, your miracle is on the way,” she wrote. “I am living proof that dreams do come true. Don’t give up.”
