Stan Alieke, the lawyer representing controversial musician Speed Darlington, has publicly called out Burna Boy to take similar action against socialite Cubana Chief Priest as he did with Darlington. This comes in the wake of a heated exchange between Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest, which has captured widespread public attention.
The conflict began after Burna Boy posted a message on social media that many interpreted as a jab at Cubana Chief Priest, a close associate of Burna Boy’s rival, Davido. In the post, Burna Boy referred to Chief Priest as the “Owerri Rick Ross,” a comment that quickly escalated into a war of words.
In response, Cubana Chief Priest took to his own platform, where he referenced Burna Boy’s Grammy win, sarcastically crediting it to the influence of music mogul Diddy. He quipped, “Diddy oil the fastest way to PTSD. You never see anything, you and your bend down collect Grammy.” The retort added fuel to an already tense situation.
Amid the drama, Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, stepped into the fray, questioning Burna Boy’s selective reactions to criticism. Alieke highlighted the apparent double standard in Burna Boy’s actions, referencing his previous legal actions against Darlington.
“Your petition claims that the Diddy and baby oil banter has caused ‘irreparable damage to your international reputation and has made you lose a lot of gigs,'” Alieke said. “Another person with more reach and influence has now referenced the same banter, so the world expects you to take action and arrest him too. If not, people will see it as cowardice.”
Alieke’s remarks struck a chord with observers, who noted the irony in Burna Boy’s silence toward Chief Priest compared to his swift response to Darlington. Alieke further emphasized his position, stating, “I’m just a lawyer that wants justice to go round.”
