Ayodele Quits PRP Over Omission From Presidential Aspirant List

A presidential hopeful, Prof. Oluwamuyiwa Favour Ayodele has formally resigned from the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), citing his exclusion from the party’s recently released list of cleared and uncleared presidential aspirants.

In a resignation letter dated May 25, 2026, and addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Ayodele expressed disappointment over what he described as a breach of trust and a violation of the party’s principles.

Copies of the letter were also sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the PRP National Secretary, and the Osun State Chairman.

Ayodele, who had declared interest in contesting for Nigeria’s presidency under the PRP platform, stated that his omission from the aspirants’ list signalled a lack of recognition by the party leadership.

“My intention was to be a permanent member and contribute meaningfully to building the party,” he wrote. “However, the recent development, where my name was not included among both cleared and uncleared aspirants, represents a clear breach of agreement and runs contrary to the values of the party.”

The former aspirant emphasized that he had previously resolved to remain in the party under all circumstances, except if his name was excluded from official processes a condition he said has now been met.

“I can not stay where my presence is not acknowledged. It is only reasonable and honourable to step aside,” he added.

Ayodele, who also serves as VisionAfric Global Executive Chairman, did not indicate his next political move but wished the party well in its future engagements.

His resignation adds to growing concerns about internal party processes and transparency as political activities intensify ahead of Nigeria’s next general elections.
