81-year-old woman, Helen Holland, died after being hit by a police motorcycle accompanying the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie, through London, BBC reports on Wednesday.
Holland was in London visiting her sister when she was hit on the 10th of May at the junction of West Cromwell Road and Warwick Road in Earl’s Court.
Her relatives stated she was in a coma after the crash, and police said she was still in critical condition on Friday.
Holland’s family said she died two weeks after the incident saying, “She fought for her life for nearly two weeks… but irreversible damage to her brain finally ended the battle”.
According to Buckingham Palace, the duchess was “deeply saddened” and sent her “deepest condolences” to the entire family.
Announcing her death, her son, Martin Holland, said his mother died after “suffering multiple broken bones and massive internal injuries” in a statement.
