Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman (Northwest) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style, labeling him “the most inaccessible leader” in Nigeria’s history.
In a statement released on Tuesday, September 17, Lukman expressed frustration with Tinubu’s unresponsiveness, surprisingly comparing him unfavorably to late military ruler General Sani Abacha. “Even late General Sani Abacha was by far more accessible,” Lukman noted.
Lukman highlighted the nation’s dire situation, stating, “Nigerians are facing an existential crisis…our democracy is in the Intensive Care Unit.” He cited widespread poverty, abandoned projects, and inadequate security measures as evidence of Tinubu’s ineffective leadership.
Specifically, Lukman mentioned the neglected Kaduna-Abuja Road, now a “death trap,” and the prioritization of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a N15 trillion project without budgetary provision. “Public investment towards addressing insecurity is business as usual,” he lamented.
The former APC vice chairman urged former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida, along with retired General Aliyu Gusau, to devise strategies to dislodge the APC from power in the 2027 elections.
