Former Big Brother Naija season nine housemate, Tunji ‘Tjay’ Adeniji-Soji, has spoken out about his decision to leave his pregnant wife to participate in the reality show. Tjay, a 33-year-old medical doctor, was recently evicted alongside Handi and Shaun.
Tjay described the decision as “difficult” for both him and his wife. “It was difficult for both of us,” he confessed. Initially, Tjay thought the show would air after his wife’s delivery, but the pregnancy timeline changed.
Despite initial worries, Tjay’s wife gave him her blessing to compete. He recalled, “She said, ‘okay, fine, there’s no point really going backwards now,’ although it was very difficult for her. She just preferred me to focus on my dream.”
Tjay praised his wife’s strength and resilience during his time on the show. “I always like to praise women who support their men in their dreams,” he said. “My wife received enormous support from friends, family, and fans… She was not in any way unsupported or lonely.”
Tjay’s wife gave birth to twin boys during his fourth week on the show. He acknowledged the support system that helped his wife, saying, “A lot of fans reached out, my friends supported us, family was also there… She had lots of help.” Tjay’s story highlights the importance of partnership and support in pursuing one’s dreams.
