Labour Party Urges President Tinubu to Sack Non-Performing Ministers

The Julius Abure faction of the Labour Party has called on President Bola Tinubu to reassess his administration and sack underperforming ministers and heads of government agencies.

Addressing the press in Abeokuta, factional Publicity Secretary Abayomi Arabambi stated, “The bitter truth is that even under President Tinubu, Nigeria has not moved forward.” He attributed the country’s stunted growth to “lack of political will and capacity” by past administrations.

Arabambi criticized the APC-led government, giving it a rating of 2.5 out of 10. “Nigeria is not moving forward,” he said, urging President Tinubu to “rejig his cabinet” and appoint competent individuals based on merit.

The Labour Party also demanded the removal of Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, and other executives, citing mismanagement of the oil sector.

Furthermore, Arabambi advocated for the withdrawal of licenses from Electricity Distribution Companies, citing their failure to address epileptic power supply.

He emphasized, “Nigerians deserve so much more than we are currently receiving under this government.” Arabambi also criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s handling of corruption charges against former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

Arabambi described the EFCC’s actions as a “hatchet job,” questioning their motives in declaring Bello wanted, only to later attempt to apprehend him in a residential neighborhood.
