Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has confirmed his temporary departure from Nigeria, citing the need to prioritize his “sanity and health.” In a candid Instagram post on Monday, he stated, “Yes, I’m here to confirm I’m out of Nigeria temporarily. I need to attend to my sanity and my health.”
Bobrisky expressed his disappointment regarding travel disruptions he faced while attempting to leave the country. He attributed these frustrations to actions taken by local security agencies, which he claims attempted to hinder his travel plans. “Few Nigerian security agencies tried everything to frustrate me, but naaa, I gat God,” he wrote, reflecting his resilience amidst the challenges.
In his post, Bobrisky also called on KLM, the airline he was using, to refund two unused business class tickets, which he stated cost a staggering N9.8 million each. He lamented, “Imagine buying a business class ticket three times; only one was successful. KLM, I hope you guys refund me the two I didn’t use. I know it’s not your fault, but it’s fine.”
The cross-dresser’s travel woes began last Thursday when he was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to travel to London. Bobrisky alleged that he sustained injuries during this incident, further complicating his journey.
The situation escalated when he was subsequently taken to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja. Reports indicate he was questioned about claims that he had offered a bribe of N15 million to officials to dismiss money laundering charges against him.
Following this ordeal, Bobrisky was released on bail after he reportedly denied the bribery allegations during his confessional statement. His departure from Nigeria comes just days after this release, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his exit.
In a bid to deflect criticism regarding his extravagant travel choices, Bobrisky addressed potential detractors, stating, “Before you come to my page to type nonsense, check your account balance if you can afford three business seats, not to talk of buying it three times. Well, I’m not in Nigeria, so your comment means nothing.”
