Bobrisky Claims He Paid N5 Million to SAN for Federal Pardon Amid Money Laundering Charges

Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has reportedly revealed that he paid N5 million to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in an attempt to secure a Federal Government pardon over the money laundering charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to a recent video released by popular social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), Bobrisky disclosed the financial arrangement during a voice call that allegedly took place on May 16, 2024.

In the recording, Bobrisky explained that the SAN had initially requested N10 million for legal services, but due to his frozen bank accounts by the EFCC, he was unable to raise the full amount. Bobrisky revealed that his godfather had intervened to assist, providing N5 million to help cover the legal fee, though he admitted that he could not ask for further financial support from his godfather, who had already provided him with a well-furnished apartment near the prison.

Bobrisky’s comments shed light on the behind-the-scenes efforts to secure his freedom from legal troubles, which have been a source of public scrutiny in recent months. “The SAN asked for N10 million, which I could have transferred, but my account is frozen. My godfather gave me N5 million and we sent it to the SAN two weeks ago. He has already submitted the pardon request,” Bobrisky explained in the recording.

In addition to revealing details about his financial dealings in an effort to avoid prison, Bobrisky also addressed widespread speculation surrounding his incarceration. Contrary to public belief, Bobrisky confirmed that he was not actually in prison, though he had been close to the facility. “Truth be told, I won’t lie to you, you’re my person. I’m not in prison, but I’m around there. They got me an apartment because of my godfather,” he admitted. “My godfather was able to say, ‘Never, you will not smell that prison.’”

The cross-dresser explained that his godfather had arranged for him to stay in an apartment near the prison facility with permission from the Deputy Controller of Nigeria, so long as he refrained from posting on social media. “Let the world think that, but you will never,” Bobrisky said, emphasizing that his godfather’s connections had kept him out of prison.

Bobrisky also revealed that his sentence, which was supposed to end in July, could be shortened if his amnesty request was granted. “I’m supposed to finish my sentence by July, but if we get the amnesty, I could leave by the first week of next month,” he said, hinting at the possibility of an early release if the pardon request was successful.

This latest revelation about Bobrisky’s legal battle comes shortly after he had claimed that EFCC operatives had demanded and received N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against him. The crossdresser alleged that his godfather, along with the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, had arranged for him to serve his six-month prison sentence in the luxury of a private apartment, rather than in a correctional facility.

Meanwhile, after the release of the recording, Bobrisky took to his Instagram to mock the situation. “Nurse Titi your patient is out again,” he wrote, followed by laughing emojis. This sarcastic remark was likely directed at activist VeryDarkMan, who had made the recording public and attracted significant attention online.

The leaked audio and subsequent social media remarks have intensified public interest in Bobrisky’s ongoing legal issues. The crossdresser has become a polarizing figure, with both support and criticism coming from various quarters as the situation unfolds. Many are now questioning the depth of his connections and the measures he is taking to avoid a full prison sentence, even as the EFCC continues to investigate his financial activities.
