Ned Nwoko, a prominent Nigerian politician and businessman, has publicly addressed the rumors swirling on social media that actress Chika Ike is set to become his 7th wife. In an official statement posted on Instagram, Nwoko’s Director of Communications dismissed the claims as “baseless” and a result of “malicious speculation” being spread by bloggers seeking attention.
The rumors began circulating after Nollywood actress Chika Ike, who had recently announced her pregnancy, became the subject of intense public scrutiny. Many internet users jumped to conclusions, with some speculating that the unborn child was fathered by Senator Nwoko and that he planned to marry Ike as his 7th wife. These speculations gained traction, particularly after Regina Daniels, Nwoko’s 6th wife, deactivated her social media accounts, prompting further chatter.
In his statement, Nwoko’s communications director emphasized that the persistent rumors were part of an ongoing pattern of falsehoods aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the politician and his family. “People keep fabricating lies about him and his wife because they know it will grasp the attention of many,” the statement read.
The rumors also reportedly linked Nwoko to comments regarding Nigerian music legend Tuface and polygamy. The communications director quickly debunked these reports, stating that they were “completely untrue.”
The statement also made it clear that the senator, who is currently serving a national assignment, is deeply focused on his political work. “As a public figure, and with his wife also being an actress, it is not unusual for bloggers seeking attention to fabricate such stories,” the statement noted.
Senator Nwoko’s office took strong exception to the growing rumors and clarified that he has no intention of marrying anyone beyond his existing wives. Furthermore, he is committed to fulfilling his political duties rather than engaging in the distractions created by such false reports.
The spokesperson continued, stressing that these fabricated stories serve no other purpose than to divert attention from Nwoko’s work and his responsibilities to his constituents. He also reiterated that both Nwoko and his wife were fully aware of the negative effects these rumors could have, but were determined to remain focused on their priorities.
“We categorically state that these claims are entirely baseless and a product of malicious speculation,” the official statement read. The spokesperson also emphasized that the senator remains dedicated to his political work and his family life, with no room for the distractions of unfounded gossip.
This response came just hours after the sudden deactivation of Regina Daniels’ social media pages, which further fueled public speculation. Despite the confusion, Nwoko’s office made it clear that his marriage to Daniels and his other wives remains intact.
