Buhari Approves New NIS Governing Board

President Muhammadu Buhari has granted approval for the formation of the new Governing Board of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), as the tenure of the outgoing Board reaches its conclusion.

The primary objective behind this decision is to ensure effective governance and provide strategic policy direction for the Institute, in adherence to Decree No. 31 of 8th July 1992, which established it.
In due course, the following individuals will be officially inaugurated as members of the Board: Barrister Danladi Ibrahim (Chairman), Major General Okpeh Wilson Ali, AIG Hafiz Inuwa, Lawrence Babatunde Aremu, Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, Boniface C. Odum, Salisu Manman Aliyu, Acting Deputy Controller General Gregory A. Itohoh, Professor O. A. Moronkola, Kunle Solaja, Commodore Nesiama Omatseye, and Mr. Awogbade Ayorinde Gbadebo.
The composition of this new Board aims to bring diverse expertise and perspectives, enabling effective decision-making and oversight of the National Institute for Sports. It is anticipated that their collective efforts will contribute to the advancement and development of sports in Nigeria.
