Bukunmi Adeaga Condemns the Rating of Baltasar Engonga’s Sex Tapes

Nigerian public figure and social media personality Bukunmi Adeaga recently made headlines with her outspoken comments about the controversy surrounding Baltasar Engonga, the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency in Equatorial Guinea. Engonga has found himself at the center of a scandal after he was arrested for fraud on November 4, leading to an even larger revelation about his personal life. Authorities investigating his financial crimes uncovered over 400 sex tapes involving Engonga and more than 300 women.

Among those featured in the tapes were shocking revelations, including Engonga’s brother’s pregnant wife and his pastor’s wife, sparking widespread outrage and disbelief. As the story gained momentum, Adeaga felt compelled to speak out against those who were not only viewing these tapes but rating them online. “It’s one thing to watch these videos, but to rate them? I just don’t understand the mindset,” Adeaga said in her video response to the scandal.

In her social media post, Adeaga questioned the motives of those sharing their thoughts on Engonga’s tapes. She expressed concern over how people were openly discussing the videos as if it were an ordinary form of entertainment. “It’s disturbing,” she stated, “especially when we live in a world where people claim they have no space on their phones, but still find room to store all these videos.”

Adeaga’s comments resonate with the growing social media backlash against the trivialization of serious issues like privacy violations and abuse. “What does it say about us when we treat something so deeply personal as mere content to be rated and shared?” she questioned in her viral video, addressing her audience directly. “We need to think twice about the kind of society we’re building.”

The arrest of Engonga, who had previously been a high-ranking official in the Equatorial Guinean government, has raised more questions than answers. The discovery of the tapes during a fraud investigation has sparked a larger conversation about the abuse of power, consent, and the exploitation of women in positions of vulnerability. As more details about the tapes emerge, the public’s focus has shifted from Engonga’s financial crimes to the disturbing nature of his personal actions.

Adeaga’s criticism also points to a broader societal issue, questioning how modern technology is being used to facilitate and normalize harmful behaviors. “The fact that people are watching these tapes and rating them suggests a disturbing desensitization to exploitation,” Adeaga warned. “We’ve become so accustomed to accessing private content that we forget the real people involved.”

The Nigerian influencer concluded her remarks with a call for greater empathy and self-reflection. “If we are truly concerned about the well-being of others, we should start by holding ourselves accountable,” she urged. “This isn’t about shaming anyone for curiosity; it’s about respecting privacy and recognizing the harm that comes from reducing human experiences to entertainment.”
