Chidimma Adetshina Announces Decision to Quit Pageantry After Miss Universe Journey

Chidimma Adetshina, the Miss Universe runner-up, has made the decision to leave the pageantry world, citing personal reasons and the emotional toll the experience has taken on her. In a recent interview with Silverbird TV, the 1st runner-up of the 2023 Miss Universe competition revealed that pageantry had been a traumatic experience for her, leading her to step away from the industry.

“Finishing in the top 2 at the Miss Universe competition is still a shocker for me,” Adetshina admitted, expressing her surprise at her success in the global contest. However, despite the recognition, she made it clear that her time in pageantry had come to an end. “Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me,” she confessed, explaining that the pressures and challenges she faced during her participation had taken a significant emotional toll.

Adetshina further elaborated on the emotional strain she experienced, revealing that there were times during the Miss Universe competition when she felt like quitting. “People still don’t understand how I felt. There were times when I almost quit during the Miss Universe contest,” she said, emphasizing the difficult moments that almost led her to give up on her dream. Despite her impressive finish, the experience left her feeling disillusioned and ready for a new chapter in her life.

The beauty queen also shared that she is relocating from South Africa to Nigeria, signaling a fresh start and a shift in her personal priorities. “I’m really done with pageantry. I want to focus on myself and establish who I am. And forward my education as well,” Adetshina stated. She made it clear that her future plans are focused on personal growth and furthering her education rather than continuing in the pageant industry.

Adetshina’s decision to step away from pageantry follows a series of notable achievements in her career. After finishing as 1st runner-up in the Miss Universe competition, she was named Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, a prestigious title that further solidified her status in the global pageantry scene. She also won the Miss Nigeria title, but before that, she had withdrawn from the Miss South Africa contest amid scrutiny over her nationality.
