Dangote Group to Transport Refined Petroleum Products by Sea

Dangote Refinery

The Dangote Group has announced plans to transport refined petroleum products by sea, alleviating pressure on road networks and facilitating exports to other African countries. Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, Senior Adviser to the Group President, made the announcement in a statement on Sunday.

“We plan to ease the pressure on the roads from the refinery by transporting finished petroleum products to other ports along the Nigerian coast by sea, for further distribution to the hinterland,” Wali-Abdurrahman said. The company is constructing a jetty in the Lekki Free Zone to handle bulk cargoes during the refinery’s development.

The initiative aims to reduce the strain on road networks while expanding exports to other African countries. The Dangote Group recently commenced discharging petroleum products from its state-of-the-art oil refinery.

At the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry trade fair, the Dangote Group attracted a large crowd eager to learn about its refinery and explore business opportunities. Participants showed interest in various business units, including Dangote Fertiliser, Dangote Sugar, NASCON (Dangote Salt), and Dangote Cement.

Peter Ibrahim, a participant, expressed his interest in discovering business and job opportunities within the company. “I am here at the Dangote booth to find out what business and job opportunities are available at the Dangote Refinery,” he said.

Sale Sagir, a cement dealer, sought information on becoming a distributor of Dangote Petroleum products. “I came to this trade fair because of the Dangote Group… I want to find out what it takes to be a distributor,” Sagir remarked.

ACCI President Chief Emeka Obegolu commended the Dangote Group for its significant role in Nigeria’s industrialization, citing its “unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s development” and substantial tax contributions to national revenue.
