Davido Congratulates Donald Trump on Winning 2024 U.S. Presidential Election

Superstar Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has made headlines with his recent social media post congratulating Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. The Republican candidate defeated the incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, securing the highest office in the United States.

Trump’s victory in the tightly contested election was marked by a decisive win in the Electoral College. The former president secured 292 electoral votes, surpassing the 270 votes needed to clinch the presidency. Kamala Harris, who was aiming to become the first female president, garnered 224 votes. This result has sparked widespread reactions both in the U.S. and globally, with notable figures offering their views on the outcome.

Among those weighing in was Davido, who took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to publicly congratulate Trump. The singer’s message read, “Congratulations 47th POTUS @realDonaldTrump. But you @KamalaHarris should be proud! You did that! A solid woman.” His remarks expressed admiration not only for Trump’s success but also for Harris’ performance throughout the election campaign.

Davido’s praise for Harris highlights the high regard he holds for the Vice President’s achievements. “A solid woman,” he wrote, acknowledging the historical significance of Harris’ candidacy and her resilience throughout the election process. Despite not winning, Harris’ presence as the first woman to be a major party’s presidential candidate was seen as a significant milestone in U.S. politics.

The post drew mixed reactions from Davido’s followers, many of whom were quick to comment on the artist’s decision to publicly support Trump. Some lauded the singer for offering a gracious acknowledgment of both candidates, while others questioned his political stance, particularly given his Nigerian roots and his previous involvement in political issues closer to home.

Just days before the U.S. election, it was reported by GistLover that Davido had traveled to the U.S. to cast his vote in the 2024 election. However, the singer faced criticism for not participating in Nigeria’s 2023 general elections, a fact that became a point of contention for some of his critics. Despite the backlash, Davido remained vocal about his right to engage in the U.S. electoral process, given his American birthplace.
