Nigerian music superstar, Davido, has criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling it the “most dangerous institution in Nigeria” amid the Edo State gubernatorial election.
In a series of X posts on Saturday, Davido voiced concerns about INEC’s electronic result transmission promises. “We already know that @inecnigeria will not transmit results electronically, so everyone should be ready to follow the vote/result from the polling unit up until the state collation centre.”
Davido warned that winning and being declared the winner are distinct outcomes. “Winning is one thing. Being declared a winner is another thing! From 7 p.m., make una go dey mount collation center!! #EdoDecide2024.”
His comments has echoed widespread concerns about Nigeria’s electoral transparency, particularly in pivotal state elections.
As Edo State voters cast their ballots, Davido’s message emphasizes citizen engagement and monitoring for a credible process.
