Delta State Deputy Governor, Mr. Monday Onyeme, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to redouble their efforts to return the party to power in 2027. He made this appeal during a courtesy visit from non-working members of the State Executive Committee in Asaba.
Onyeme’s comments come amidst the ongoing fuel scarcity and price hikes, which have significantly impacted Nigerians’ standard of living. He stated, “Nigerians have learned lessons the hard way by voting for the All Progressives Congress. When the PDP was leading the nation on a progressive trend with fuel pump prices at N87 per litre, Nigerians enjoyed democratic freedom. But they fell prey to the APC’s ‘Change’ mantra.”
Onyeme urged PDP members to remain loyal and strong, saying, “What we are experiencing is the APC theory; they decide what happens, and we pray that God will intervene. We should work very hard to return the PDP to power. You won’t know the benefits of the PDP until you’re not there in the party. Nigeria and Nigerians need you.”
Onyeme criticized the ruling APC, saying they had promised that “Nigeria must fall if the price was not reduced. Today, Nigerians are tired of grumbling about fuel prices. The freedom to protest is no longer there. When we were in charge, Nigerians enjoyed democratic freedom, and the government gave them listening ears.”
Mr. Monday Onyeme also expressed hope for a better future, saying, “We are yet to see the last about the increase in fuel price, but there is hope. The situation affects everybody, so let us rally around the PDP and redeem our country. We will be happy again as Nigerians.”
The deputy governor thanked the party executives for their visit and congratulated those who won elections into various positions within the party. Earlier, the group’s Chairman, Mr. Morgan Ogapha, reiterated their commitment to serving the party and Deltans.
