Eezee Tee Allegedly Flees Courtroom During Legal Battle with Mercy Chinwo

At the Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday, gospel music executive Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as Eezee Tee, reportedly fled the courtroom moments after his highly anticipated case with gospel artist Mercy Chinwo was adjourned. The chaos erupted following an announcement by Justice Alexander Owoeye, who postponed the arraignment until May 14 due to ongoing administrative formalities. This delay marked a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal dispute, which has attracted significant attention in the media.

According to reports from TheCable NG, the spectacle began when Eezee Tee exited the courtroom. As he made his way out, a crowd of journalists and media personnel, who had gathered to cover the case, were already stationed near the exit with cameras in hand. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the music executive allegedly sprinted from the court premises, with reporters struggling to keep pace. A photo of Eezee Tee’s escape quickly made its way online, sparking a flurry of reactions across social media.

The case at the heart of this dramatic episode involves serious allegations against Eezee Tee. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has accused the gospel music mogul of money laundering involving a sum of $340,000. In addition, he faces charges of misappropriating funds from Mercy Chinwo’s digital earnings and event revenues. Perhaps most notably, Eezee Tee is accused of altering the 2017 contract he had with Chinwo, without her consent. These allegations have been vehemently denied by the music executive, who referred to them as “lies from the pit of hell.”

During the court proceedings, both the prosecution and the defense were present. Bilikisu Buhari, representing the prosecution, and Chikaosolu Ojukwu, defending Eezee Tee, both confirmed their readiness to proceed. However, the presiding judge, Justice Owoeye, noted that administrative delays had caused the adjournment.
