The reigning Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu is in the news again. This time around, it is not about how he was forced out of his palace by some hoodlums who carted away his staff of office on Wednesday, October 21 but his whereabouts.
Few days ago, a ritual rites took place at Isale Eko to welcome the monarch and the symbol of authority back to the palace.
But surprisingly, Oba Akiolu was nowhere to be found at the ceremony.
Although, according to what TheCommentNG gathered the Kingmakers claimed the staff disappeared after the hoodlums broke into and looted the office during the protests against SARS in Lagos.
But in an unexpected turn, the staff has been found leaning undisturbed among the clutter and damage left behind by the looters.
Meanwhile, the question people are asking now is why Eleko, Oba Akiolu remained incommunicado since his palace was attacked by an unknown thug?
However, rumour has it that he’s planning to move his palace to a new and secure environment.
Despite that, many are of the opinion that the King needs to address the kingdom and share his ordeal.
In case you don’t know, Akiolu was selected by the kingmakers of the Lagos traditional kingdom and confirmed by the Lagos State government as the 21st Oba of Lagos; he was capped the next day, and was crowned on August 9, 2003. He has served in this position since May 2003, when he succeeded Oba Adeyinka Oyekan.
