On Thursday, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, responded to her recent allegations, accusing her of fabricating lies. In a video posted online, Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezeetee, labeled Chinwo as a “fantastic actress” and presented what he claimed were receipts to counter her accusations. This comes after the singer accused him of masterminding a paternity fraud allegation against her in April 2024.
The controversy began earlier this week when Chinwo alleged that Onyedikachukwu was behind a false paternity claim made in April 2024. On April 3, several bloggers reported that Nathaniel Bassey, rather than Chinwo’s husband, Blessed Uzochikwa, was the father of her three-year-old son. Following the accusations, Chinwo, her husband, and Bassey filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, asking for an investigation into the matter. Chinwo also claimed that she had received threats to her life, along with intimidation and bullying.
In his video statement, Eezeetee denied these allegations, asserting that he had never threatened or intimidated the singer. He instead accused Chinwo of being dishonest. “We are at the point where we should be truthful and sincere,” he said. “What do you expect of someone who can perfectly imitate a child’s voice and it sounds so real like she’s a child? She’s a fantastic actress. Keep acting, keep crying.”
Onyedikachukwu also defended himself against the claims of intimidation and bullying, stating that he had endured significant attacks on his reputation but chose to remain silent. “Even in the face of injustice, I chose silence. When you involved the EFCC to detain me, I remained silent,” he said. He went on to explain that despite being manipulated by Chinwo into using legal measures against him, he continued to seek resolution without retaliating. “But then, you maliciously manipulated the system, obtained a bench warrant against me, and published it globally.”
He further emphasized that his silence was not a sign of weakness. “This is not just about me—it’s about transparency, fairness, and standing up against unjust actions. Sometimes, silence is mistaken for weakness, but let me assure you, truth always prevails,” he added, referencing his legal battles and the publicized bench warrant.
The former manager also revealed that he had reached out to several prominent pastors in an attempt to resolve the dispute with Chinwo, but his efforts had been unsuccessful. This, he claimed, demonstrated his willingness to resolve matters peacefully despite the ongoing public accusations against him.
Additionally, Eezeetee shared a statement from his legal team, Maxwell Opara & Associates, which accused Mercy Chinwo of inflating her booking fees by over 300 percent. “All the allegations are false! Why are the allegations shifting?” the statement read. “In all your statements and correspondences, you have never agreed to submit yourself to a mutual independent financial audit for the period the booking line was with you.”
Onyedikachukwu further questioned Chinwo’s actions, asking if she had diverted funds or inflated her booking fees. “Did you divert funds or not? Did you independently inflate your booking fees by over 300% then and blame it on the label?” he asked, suggesting that there were financial discrepancies that had yet to be addressed.
